A good friend of yours invite you for the Persian New Year. The meal is insane, 5 courses, every one of them as tasty and beautiful as you ever tried... You want to thank her so you're take your wallet and give her 100 euros... You'd never do that, right? And she'd probably feel insulted by your expression of gratitude... Why? Well, it is not a transaction. It is friendship, it is love, it is everything you want but an interaction ruled by the market. And it feels different, so much so that you would never take your wallet, even if she beats the best restaurant in the city (and she did). This is what we want. We don't want to feel we're on the market. That feeling is essential for deeper trust, deeper connections.
Not asking for any money is also a way to recognize that everyone coming to the Circle is powerful and bringing their unique genius. There is no separation between an artificial stage where facilitators deliver and an audience consumes. We are all co-creating, all from a place of being powerful. Each of us already has the answers within. The most junior of us bring fresh perspectives, ingenuity of the youth. The most senior of us bring their learnings from decades of experience. Is one better than the other when wanting to birth the World of Tomorrow?
A last aspect of making this space NOT a commercial space is that we want everyone to come with their vulnerability: the challenges of their organization, their personal challenges, their thoughts still forming... If we all try to impress each other to get commercial contracts, how will the space feel? ... Probably not the way it currently feels.
